It took an amazing two years and thirteen play sets before we got one of the most iconic symbols of the Star wars films to immerge and I feel only then it was like an after thought. It's debut release was with the Tie Fighter 7146 set, along side the Tie pilot which had a black version of the helmet, (incidentally it would take nine years before we got a proper version of that fig). Since that initial release they've kept coming and have appeared in fifteen sets up to the beginning of 2010. it would take a further four years till a better version would immerge and in 2005's Imperial Inspection set 7264, a near definitive arrived, with printed hip and legs, this was an awesome fig. Sadly Lego then took a step backwards and returned to the normal release there after. It was then in the sole release of 2008's Death Star set 10188 a change appeared, the solid black mouth piece changed to the more familiar dotted gray and black one. Since then we've had Sandtroopers and Shadow troopers, but none of them have appeared with the printed legs of 2005 - a move I can only think of being of cost, so I wait for the ultimate Lego minifig Stormtrooper. |
Aw man, how SW Lego fans wanted these fellows so bad and they didn't disappoint us. Everything about the Stormtrooper delivers, the helmet is just awesome and we were treated to patterns on both front and back of the torso, slight down side being the legs not having any detail
Solid black mouth.

This is the even better version of the Stormtrooper, you'll note the printed legs and hip joint. This figure is so cool it's unbelievable. The head piece that came with this was a standard yellow one.
Solid black mouth.
STORMTROOPER II CODE sw122 SET/S: 7264
This has a slightly redesigned helmet, instead of a solid black mouthpiece, it now has the more familiar toothy gray/black one and comes with a black headpiece.

This has a black head underneath the helmet and apart from the pauldron no different to regular stormtrooper's. This also appears with a re-breather and is from The Mos Eisley play set (4501).
Solid black mouth.

Again a black head piece is used. Other than that, the "Re-breather" is with this fig, for a view of this check the one out below on full image.

The only difference from the one above is this has the "dotted" mouth on the helmet. Incidentally, the attaching Lego piece to the neck bracket is gray, will have to investigate if this is correct, also this has a yellow head piece which coincides with the previous version.

SANDTROOPER III CODE: sw199 SET/S: 4501
This is from the new "Luke's Land speeder", this Sandtrooper has a black pauldron, the newer dotted mouthed helmet and the re-breather backpack. The head piece is black and apart from that there are no other changes - would have been nice to see the same detail as released with the "Imperial Inspection" set though. Like the above, I will have to check the attaching Lego piece's colour, this one is black.
